POSTCARD
In 2020 I was lucky enough to record a ‘postcard’ for the
ABC Radio segment. It was a message to my daughter, who had just moved out to a classic rental terraced house in Fitzroy
STEREO STORY
I was put on to this excellent site – short prose pieces based on songs –
by a friend, and thought I would run some Michael Nyman past them.
BLOGGING
My first newspaper piece – about the blog that I had for three years.
It was called ‘Mrs Slocombe regrets’
SUMMER
A piece in the Age from 2015, about the summer I left London for Melbourne
REGRET
Alan Bennett, my dad, and me (from 2017)
AND BELOW, A PIECE FROM 2015 IN THE BIG ISSUE, ABOUT ALL THE BOOKS THAT HAD NEVER BEEN BORROWED FROM THE LIBRARY WHERE I WORKED FROM 2012-2021
OVERLAND
I had three pieces in Overland magazine in 2015-6.
The first was an examination of the whiteness of poetry prizes at that time. It got quite a reaction!
The second riffed on the ‘middlebrow‘ motif that was momentarily a thing in the literary scene in Australia
The third was about authors vs reviewers
